I've never met a doctor who doesn't. I've been a voluntary Clinical 
Instructor at a nearby university for 23 years. Of course, what I learn 
teaching others is invaluable.

Even lawyers occasionally work _pro_bono_publico_.

Surely. The time I spend teaching others expands my knowledge and 
sharpens my skills. I've been developing example code for user groups 
and (later) the on-line audience for 30 years. Of course, what I learn 
teaching others is valuable to my clients.
