I am not sure, Ernie.
Obviously it was a fight that had to be won and by a good margin.
Winning over the "last" vote usually costs more than winning the
first vote for your side in any contest i.e. the amount of effort it
takes to convince the last hold out voter is significantly more
than the effort it takes to get a "true believer" to go to the polls
and vote. Could we have won as convincing a victory at a much lower
cost, say a two to one margin rather than a 2.5 to 1 margin? How much less
would such a victory have cost in dollar terms, leaving that many more
dollars available for the next campaign? That is the question that NRA/ILA
must address. I am sure I don't have to tell you that resources are not
limitless.
