*@SUBJECT:TV problem and CCD problem... N
Two biggies. #1 and most important, I had a very strong magnet a little
too close to my television set the other day. How can I cure the little
bit of discoloration that remains? (this particular set has no
externally accessable degaussing coil.)
#2 and of almost as much importance: in low-light situations, those
below approximately 4 to 5 lux, our full-size Magnavox camcorder has
developed a problem. It shows a few little dots on the picture, the
largest one of a blue tint (best guess) of about 4 to 5 pixels square.
It persists no matter the zoom or focus settings in the same location.
That leads me to believe that it's a problem with the CCD perhaps?
Recently I noticed a few smaller dots on the extreme corner of the
screen. None of these are visible, however, in properly lit settings.
Any suggestions on either problem?
Also, what low-end (consumer style) Hi8 deck could someone recommend
(looking for the under $500 range)?

Most newer sets (i.e.: 7-10 years old) incorporate a built in degaussing
coil. It is not very powerful. If equipped, the coil only operates for a
few seconds after turning the set on, and usually is already turned off
before the tube warms up enough to see a picture. If the problem does not
go away on its own in a few weeks, you may have to get a degaussing coil,
usually only carried by a TV service center.

Ric,
I will go to the board file area and up load a file called dmug_act.zip. I
would like you to look at this file and see if we can clean up the
membership. this is a carry over from my earlier message. I am sorry it has
taken me so many tries to make this BBS do what I want.
