          BIBLE STUDY QUESTIONS, 28/11/1997 ........... 1 CORINTHIANS 11:26
Background:-- In 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-25, Paul tells us how Jesus
instituted the sacrament of the Lord's supper. Now he concludes,
saying, "For as often as you [pl.] eat this bread and drink the
cup, you [pl.] proclaim the Lord's death until He comes".
          1) In 1 CORINTHIANS 11:25, we see that Jesus said, "As often as
[HOSAKIS EAN] you drink this cup, do this unto my remembrance".
Next, Paul explains, "For as often as [HOSAKIS EAN] you eat this
bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He
comes". How often do you think this means Jesus, and thus Paul,
wants Christians to share in the communion of the Lord's supper?

          .................................................................
          2) In the New Testament history, and in Christian theology, you
cannot speak of the death of Christ without speaking at the same
time, of His resurrection. Indeed, for some time in the early
Church, both His death and resurrection were commemorated at the
Easter vigil. Only later was Good Friday set apart as a separate
proclamation of the Lord's death on the cross, followed by the
proclamation of His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Why do you
think Paul says specifically, "you proclaim the Lord's death"?

          .................................................................
          3) Paul further reveals that we will thus proclaim the Lord's
death, "until He comes". Why will the Church cease proclaiming
the Lord's death, once He returns?
