Title: Oat Biscuits

Yield: 6 servings
1 c Unbleached flour
1 ts Baking powder
4 tb Butter
1/4 c Oats
1 Egg
1/4 c Buttermilk
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. 2. In processor or large bowl
combine flour and baking powder. 3. Using a steel blade (in
processor) or pastry knives/forks cut butter into dry ingredients.
NOTE: When using a processor for steps 2 and 3, once completely
mixed, transfer ingredients to large bowl and combine remaining dough
by hand. 4. Stir oats into mixture. 5. In small bowl beat the egg and
buttermilk. 6. Pour liquid into dry ingredients and mix well. 7. On
floured board, knead dough lightly. 8. Form dough into 10-12 rounded
balls. 9. Transfer to greased baking sheet, spacing in between each
ball. 10. With the floured palm of your hand or the floured bottom of
a glass, press down on each ball to flatten. 11. Brush biscuit tops
with milk and sprinkle with oats. 12. Bake on greased baking sheet
for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve Oat Biscuits hot!
Variation: Replace buttermilk with 2% lowfat milk in step 5.
