| subject: | Noisy lines |
Hi people, Well after much comment about my Dynalink V34+' performance because of noisy phone lines, yesterday I got the Telstra man out to check them. Surprise, surprise - he had tests done on the line and reckons that the line is "great" there is no noise whatever. As an aside he mentioned my exchange was only 2klms away at Camp Hill. This brings me to my problem: If my lines are good but stats from the modem suggest otherwise, then what could be the cause? what should I look for eg does the length of the phone line from the wall to the modem make any difference, does putting a connector in the middle of that cord have any bearing. The Telstra man reckons that with the quality of my line I should hve no trouble getting high speed connects on a regular basis and my equipment is most likely at fault. Any suggestions please before I toss this modem to the proverbial and get another one (different brand though).
