Nope, the Intel version is still 32 bit and will remain there until Intel
makes a real 64 bit CPU, complete with a new instruction set.
For home, an Alpha would be a poor choice.  For technical desktops (something
I'm in the middle of trying to get Kodak's middle managers, both on the
product development and office productivity sides, to understand - there IS a
difference and that's why an NT rollout will look and cost like a Unix
environment), it may be a logical choice *IF* there is software that doesn't
have to run thru the emulator (any software for Intel-only, which is most of
it, must run this way, with the attendant performance hits).  Technical apps
are being ported but most other software isn't, at least yet...
