RW> Yes, but unless MX records can be updated to reflect systems running SMTP RW> mail servers on alternate ports, this may be a moot point since most mail RW> servers deliver mail on port 25. We run our own SMTP server as a "hub" for WWIVnet. A simple redirect on the firewall can take inbound tcp/2525 and forward it to tcp/25 on the inside. This way, the hub can receive tcp/25 (since their ISP isn't blocking SMTP) and others can send to it on tcp/2525 also. Technically, even someone that has a blocked SMTP could run the server - provided all nodes sent packets on tcp/2525. Long term, I'm looking at adding SMTP AUTH - but in the short term, there is no need. - Mark --- WWIVToss v.1.50* Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 280 640/954 712/0 620 771 848 @PATH: 261/1304 1 266/512 140/1 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
