And Nigeria has a love-hate relationship with Britain. Many Nigerians have
studied at British universities and colleges, and it was (is?) a
commonwealth country. The British do reciprocate the attention and
frequently criticise the politics, corruption, and ethnic violence there.
So it is not entirely suprising they do not get along.
Africa does not have a uniformly good experience with the UN. In the 60's
UN troops were instrumental in "restoring order" by backing local
tyrants, the most infamous being Mabuto in the Congo.
