I've heard about this too. It's probably true. They said that phone lines
would have trouble handing 2400 bps, 14400 bps, 28800 bps, and now 33600 bps.
But they always manage to jack up the standard with some fancy compression
and error correction routines.
But I think the number's wrong. Wouldn't it be more like 57.6 bps?
