Tres Coker to ALL:
TC> Does anyone have a clue where you put the 50 Miller Patch. I
TC> recently went to Philmont and we hiked over 50 miles, so our
TC> crew earned the award, but we have no idea where to place it.
Right off the top, congrats to you & yor 222 crew for earning the
award in the *first* place - it's no mean task! Philmont is *the*
place to do it, of course, but that doesn't make it any less of an
accomplishment. You absolutely should display it with pride.
3 places it may be displayed:
On the uniform shirt, on the R pocket, in the space reserved for
a badges on temporary display. I'm torn between sewing things
there & sticking 'em in the plastic protectors that hang from the
pocket flap button (the Scout Shop has one that the 50 Miler fits
into exactly). Only 1 badge may be displayed there at a time.
On the back of the Merit Badge sash.
On a patch vest.
While it isn't an "official" place to wear it, I've seen it on
baseball caps, & I think it looks cool there. If I had something
else really special that I wanted to wear on my R uni shirt pocket,
I'd probably put the 50 Miler on a ballcap. Maybe use iron-on
lettering to put on the dates @ Philmont, Troop #, & Crew #. Maybe
even get the other guys to sign the hat itself.
Or what about a Philmont Tee-shirt? Did you guys shoot black-
powder when you were there? At what? Last time we (T-36, Denver
Area Council) were there, we got Philmont T-shirts & used 'em as
targets on the black-powder range ... made interesting souvenirs.
A 50-Miler patch on something like that would be pretty neat.
