Does anybody in the Washington DC area have a known reference flat and a
monochromatic light source?
Wade Duvall and some of his buddies from school have a very, very ambitious
multi-year science fair project that involves making a glider that is
launched from about 50,000 feet from a balloon, and that contains a small
telescope (mounted horizontally) with a diagonal flat mirror so that photos
on the ground (or in the sky) can be taken. I have a couple of flats on
hand, but I don't have a REFERENCE flat, and I have never taken the effort
to make a monochromatic light source. I have seen this done, however, at
the Delmarva MMM #3.

Guy,
What is the size of the optical flat you have. We may not need it because
Marc found a 5" x 7" flat that might work. Next week at mirror
grinding you can test it. Also do you have a 5" mirror?
