subject: Just wondering

I was just wondering... Who still uses Shortwave radio? I have an old radio
from about 1940 or so, and it has AM, FM and Shortwave on it. The shortwave
band is listed as 95 to 160 of some frequency band. I think this is now
known as SW1. Anyhow, there seems to be not much on when I scan these
frequencies.
I was reading the other day some book or article where some guy does a
shortwave radio show every weekday at 3 PM EST or something like that, but I
forget who the guy is or where I read the article. I was surprised that
someone is still using shortwave for a show, and advertising it. So I was
kind of wondering in general what kinds of things shortwave is used for these
days, and why. I know almost nothing about shortwave radio, so I hope this
is not perceived as just a stupid question, though to experienced radio-eers,
it probably is.
Thanks for any info!
