I doubt such a beast exists, since from the programming end, it would have to 
either open two com ports at once, (then there's the problems with what if 
one drops carrier, or whatever) or it would have to constantly read from a 
file that another node makes (which would be EXTREMLY slow.. think of opening 
a file, writing one letter, closing the file, and then another program 
checking for new files, opening the file, reading the letter, closing the 
file, and putting it on the screen).
As far as chat programs go, ZChat is probably the best one i've seen (it's 
like the CB chat in maximus, but has room names you can go to, private rooms, 
actions, colors, status (for different access levels) etc. I think it may 
even work with the maximus IPC files, but i'm not totally sure on that.
