When you reconcile a checking account, all the transactions which
are reflected on the bank statement (paid checks) are flagged as
cleared. When you do a year-end, all cleared transactions are
purged from the new data file. Cash accounts can't be reconciled
like checking accounts, transactions are never flagged as cleared,
so they're not purged at year-end; and they're with you forever.
