Where do you see your init command or hangup command in Win 95?  In the 
control panel there is a place in advanced under modems to add extra 
things like "S" registers but it doesn't display the commands like older 
Qmodem programs.  The UART is enabled.  I checked this by checking the 
comm port and it verified back that it is enabled.  Where did your 
friend enable his UART setting?.
