     Hi Stefanie
Firstly I would suggest reading a little about leather or talking
to someone about the different kinds of leather. There are many
kinds and some are easier to sew than others.
I have a book "Claire Shaeffer's Fabric Sewing Guide" which has a
whole chapter on leather and tips for sewing it.
You don't need a special pattern for leather pants - just one you
know fits you well. You will have to make a V-shaped seam above
the knee as few leather skins are long enough for pants.
It is really important to make sure the pattern fits well as once
you sew the seam it cannot be taken out. The needle holes will
     always show if you do.
The plus of leather - it doesn't fray and you can glue the hems!
Hope you enjoy your leather project!
