subject: MEX -- What is it?

Hi Dave,

 DH> Good Morning, Linda -

DH> About that message on 11-07-1998 from Linda Hargraves to Roger Nelson:

LH> I am sure of that, I am finding lots of people interested enough
LH> to be of real help with my questions.

DH> The one single mod I had to make when I dropped 3.01 into my 2.02
DH> setup was in max.ctl. 3.01 has a FirstMessageArea and FirstFileArea
DH> default you must specify, so that first-time users can land in those
DH> areas. The verbs are already in the .ctl file; you just have to
DH> put in your area names or numbers. Even if you forget, when a user
DH> selects Messages, it will prompt them for a message area.

Max.ctl has the same firstmessagearea and firstfilearea and I defaulted
it to the #1 areas, but I don't allow users access to either areas until
they go thru the cbv. They can leave me a message, but they can't have
access to the message areas.

DH> All my hard-earned ansi menus and mecca stuff never knew anything
 DH> had changed.

DH> The ONLY work/learning you will have to do is if you want to
DH> use new features that don't exist in 2.02. Initially I did this,
DH> then went back to a generic system because I seem to have a
 DH> set of unteachable users.

I understand that, some people don't seem to want to read and just think
that can play musical keys to get where they want to do.

DH> Go ahead, the water's fine, and we'll all be here to help if
 DH> you get shakey.

Thanks, I will be working on it part of this week if I get the time.
I found the files, so I will see about reading first and of course, making
a backup like I did with 2.02.

   TTYL
      Linda
