Is it a first generation Maestro VFC?



These early models have trouble with the auto detect phase of V.42.

You have to find a way to force it instead of auto detect it.

If this is your problem, as soon as one modem requests a retrain, you

will get dumped.



For now, take out the retraining (get rid of %E2) and see if your

problems are gone.
