I just finished watching T3 last night.  I'd say it's almost on par with  
T2 with many of the action sequences.

Although I could not wrap my head around the "logic" of liquid metal
robots in both films, the melty regeneration effects were a nice surprise
in T2 and revisited in T3.  Humour is well maintained in T3.

I am saving time and skipping T4 and T5 based on the poor reviews.

For something similar but on a more serious level and progressing in a  
careful pace for building suspense, check out "I Am Mother".

And speaking of andoids/'bots ..I thought Westworld (the tv series) was  
wonderful to watch with its attention to special effects.
