I only watched SG1 Occasionally, but i DO remember an episode where they
are brought before the throne of some "war-god" or resident
bad-supernatural-power of the week, and in the center of a nice display of
swords, knives and other unpleasant, sharp, your mother warned you not to
run with these things was a Bat'leth

I actually enjoy SG1, though I do admit I stayed away from it until about
the third season (my wife watched it pretty much from the beginning).  I'm
not all that big on TV shows based on movies, but I think they've done an
interesting job expanding on what was in the movie.

I enjoy the humor a lot.  A recent episode had the actor who plays the
Doctor from Enterprise playing a geeky scientest and at one point he made a
crack about "worshiping at the altar of Roddenberry".  I laughed
out loud.

Another episode had O'neill wanting to name a spacecraft
"Enterprise", but the Air Force wouldn't let him.
