Ottawa "hopped on the bandwagon," huh? Meanwhile, Kingston was
"dragged onto the amalgamation wagon, kicking and screaming." I think
many people thought that municipal amalgamation would end up serving as
a sorta "shell game" tactic that would distract from the Ontario
government "downloading" more responsibilities onto the municipality.
As it is, when you also have to factor in the effect of the
"downloading," there is just no way to be sure whether amalgamation
was a good idea. All I know is that not many people were happy about
the idea, in what is now dubbed "Greater Kingston."

Blast! I just went through the same thing in the Users249 echo, when
I mentioned CarlEton University's ties with the NC Freenet. At least
in Users249 I double-checked the spelling. Oh, this is just so
mortifying! Why, next thing you know, the Grammar Police will notice
my heavy "ellipsis abuse" in many messages...

After that, they'll probably also notice that many of my ellipses
often lack the proper spacing . . .

Oh yes, before my embarrassment makes me forget; My apology for not
correctly spelling the name of a grand place like Carleton Place.

SH>> Regarding "parachuting," if it was good enough for

Sure. Some meese still may wonder about the "joy" of then proceeding
to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and trust life and limb to an
overgrown silk hanky. 'Course I don't suppose that silk is still used
that often, but I won't let that start me ranting on about how things
are generally decaying these days.

SH>> I just hope that getting Don linked again will not result in
SH>> MooseChat getting swamped with messages. ;-)

 DG> Pun intended?

I won't deny that it crossed my mind but, since I was originally a
more northern moose, I'm more likely to attempt puns about how my
messages sometimes remind me of the tundra because they seem barren of
humor.

I'm going to have mercy, and avoid giving you eyestrain, by stopping
myself from rambling on too long. I'll save my reminiscences, about
the subtle joys of nibbling on different varieties of lichen, for some
other day.

Yours in the Way of the Moose, ...Steve
