SWITCHER allows me to swap between apps and rejoin where I left off, 
as long as there was not a disk assessing process going on at the 
time.

I've got 496 MB.  Is that enough?  ;)

Based on what you are saying, I think that it interfers with the hooks 
that SWITCHER uses and bombs out.  I can use the BW386 but it locks 
up when I try to swap via SWITCHER.

That temds me to believe that 4GW is extraneous...

to be a solution.
