-=> Quoting Jean Parrot to Bruce Clark <=- BC> The instructions are in the BWAVE???.DOC file (mine is BWAVE386.DOC). I put the ??? in there because mine is BWAVE386.DOC where yours could be BWAVEDOS.DOC. I booted up my old 286 which HAS to use BlueWave/DOS (after 3 years the date was right on, and the clock had only lost a few minutes). Unfortunately, since it has a 40MB HD, I had dumped the DOC to save space. I did find the backup disk: BWAVE.DOC for all the DOS versions. For some reason I renamed the DOC file on mine. Be sure to save the BWAVEDOS.CFG to a few backup floppies. It is the file that has your name and serial number in it, plus all those paths and program names you've filled in in the Setup/Configuration area. JP> BWAVE386 ? And I use BWAVE/DOS. Should I switch ? for sure, I should JP> read the .doc at some stge of the game. Don't switch as long as you are comfortable with BWAVE/DOS. BWAVE/386 requires a few more configurations, plus DOS4GW.EXE so it can load into XMS/EMS memory without a memory manager. It's meant for those who download HUMONGOUS message packets. JP> I saw a reference to this Buerg yesterday but I have been using a JP> prize winning editor for as long as I have been on BW, TSE,Jr. Does JP> all I want. Use whatever you're most comfortable & familiar with. BC> The "attributes" are kept in data files in the message packet. BC> The problems you have been having have been keeping revisions from BC> being reZIPed into the message packet when you exit BlueWave. JP> I still do not see the attributes kept here. I will RTFM today and JP> see what I can make of this. BC> BlueWave hasn't been saving them for the same reason as all the other BC> problems: it couldn't find its' "folder". JP> And which folder is this ? The C:\BWAVE "folder/directory" and the reference to the "Download Directory". BC> Download Directory C:\RBW\ BC> Upload Directory C:\SND\ BC> Work Directory C:\BW\WORK\ BC> Reply Directory C:\BW\REPLY\ BC> Data Directory C:\BW\DATA\ BC> Swap Directory P:\TMP\ (Ramdrive) JP> Mine is quite the twin of yours, only real difference is the last JP> one, mine goes to the BW folder proper, I have: C:\BWAVE\ With the newer computers, and fast hard drives, the swap is probably almost as fast as this old thing does to a Ramdrive. BC> Douitashimashita! JP> A ceci je reponds Mille mercis. ( how come you dwelled in japaneese ? Anime (animeeshon) [ah knee may shown]. I can't stand the English dub voices they overlay compared to the professional Japanese voice actresses/actors. I got tired of relying on the subtitles of other's translations, especially when some of those were not translated correctly: 16 years old = 18 or 19 years old birthday suit = swimsuit sugar daddy = father A street racer taking the same line through a corner with a 0.5 difference each time. Should have been: A street racer taking the same line through a corner with a 5cm (2") difference each time. Supposedly Jackie Chan is in the process of producing a live action movie version of the street racing series over in the Hong Kong area. This isn't quarter mile racing. It's downhill hairpin turn at 50 to 100 mph full drift racing. I'm not very good at the language, and have a tendancy to forget more then I learn. What I do at Genvid.com is to transcibe the Kanji/kana in some of the books into the word processor, then do a rough translation before before emailing the results to the guy with four years of Japanese, so he can do the fine tuning of the translation. I pause DVDs to do that: (Such&Such) High School = (Such&Such) College Goes with my BIGGEST gripe that one American company uses to explain the school uniforms. Why not tell the truth: It is for American censorship. They HAVE to be 18 or over. In Japan, the only students who wear uniforms are 7th through 12th graders. Once out of High School and into College, students aren't about to wear uniforms. Starting in April 2003, they now go to school Mon-Fri. Before that it was Mon-Sat. Sat was a half day for a number of years. For a couple of years before 2003, they only attended two Sat a month. The American Spring Break kind of coincides with the change of school year in Japan.
