NB> A new sort of gate, then. :)
nope, exactly the same sort of gate that they all have been... the only
difference is that my system doesn't qualify for the GUUCP flag and thus no
listing in the fidonet.org domain... this means that i can run those i
allow to gate thru my system as part of my own domain... the really funny
thing is that i can harbour the entire network of fidonet under my
domain... even funnier is that i have been for many years ;) once the
addressing is learned and understood, its actually quite easy to use...
NB>>> that many bbs's have their own way onto the Inet. There's

yup...
NB> IIRC, one puts UUCP as the To: and then puts the actual addy
NB> on the first line. Was/is there any special punctuation before
NB> or around the addy?
nope... just a leading TO: and a blank line after the addresses... one TO:
name{at}address per line...
NB>> but I haven't used that

true... however, there are very low cost ISPs that don't provide anything
other than the connection... you have to provide your own everything
else...
NB> Now, using your gateway, does that work then with ANY zone 1
NB> Fidonet address? I still have one local BBS that I can

using my gateway works with /any/ fidonet system that's operational and has
a valid routing path to it...
NB> Of course the other problem with that* BBS is that he
NB> doesn't have any offline mail door so anything HAS to be done
NB> online there... :(
i know that feeling... i had to remove the offline mail doors on my system
because they were (and still are) incompatible with the version of the BBS
software that i'm running...
