Whose B737 was it? My plans for the B-737 200 series only show a
VOR/ILS antenna on the top of the stabilizer and that's a conformal part
of the fin tip. On the other hand, my B-727 200 series plans show a VHF
aerial
boom there, possibly again a VOR/ILS antenna, but that's smaller than four
feet
or so. Seems too long a wire to be trailing around during taxi operations on
a regular basis, no telling what it might catch on. But if the airport or
nearby facilities were undergoing routine electronics testing, it might
warrant
a longer (better ranged) aerial than normally used. That's my suggestion.
