Ken, I couldn't help thinking of you and Wake Island,
the real Gooney Bird Paradise, when I stumbled upon
the DC-3 Museum web site: www.centercomp.com/dc3/ If you
haven't seen it, give it a look! I found it looking for my
list of Florida aviation museums that I somehow trashed.
If you ever get down to Disney World, the Space Center or
Sun n' Fun you may enjoy some central Florida museums.
Weeks Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, www.fantasyofflight.com
The Valiant Air Command at Titusville, www.vac.org
and the Flying Tigers Warbird Restoration Museum at Kissimmee,
www.cyberspy.com/~toms/tomreily.html Sun n' Fun is of
course www.sun-n-fun.com and out in West Florida, down the
road a bit, is the Navy's Dayton counterpart, www.naval-air.org
On the way there, you may wish to stop by the Air Force Armament
Museum at www.wg53.eglin.af/ammus/default.htm
If on the other hand you want to continue on up I-75 to just
below Macon, is Robins AFB Museum at www.museum.robins.af/mil
They have only 1 SR-71 but a seperate building full of a/c
engines which I know you would enjoy. Weeks still has his museum
in Kendall but I don't know of an URL. Also there is a new museum
near Savannah, the Mighty 8th AF, off of I-95.
www.gacoast.com/navigator/mighty8af.html
I have yet to get there but can recommend Robins, Pensacola, and
Weeks in Polk City. The others I'll put on my to-do-some-day list.
I would have e-mailed this through your excellent web page but
thought others may also enjoy them.
