What a sad (not to mention totally erroneous) statement. Belief in the
Bible is the ultimate in freedom experiences. The entire basis for Christian
belief is the concept of free will. One no more sacrifices liberty by
Bibical belief than one sacrifices liberty by the belief in gravity. I mean,
sure, the believer in gravity will accept that certain actions have
certain consequences, and so will not willingly step off a cliff, but
the choice is available to him. Belief in the Bible is really no different.
One chooses to believe that certain actions have certain consequences, and
then chooses to act accordingly.
