subject: Power to USB ?

TW>EV>JP>.What do you use as a power source, Ed. I think that I
need of of thos

TW>EV>Jean,

TW>EV>I mainly use the notebook here in the computer shack connected to an AC
TW>EV>wall outlet, the USB hubs Wall Wart is connected to another wall outlet.

TW>EV>I know I can't use the hubs Wall Wart when I'm running the notebook off
TW>EV>of battery power, although I can use the hub if I needed to connect more
TW>EV>USB thumbdrives than the notebook has sockets for.

TW>EV>I wouldn't know if they would work properly under reduced power, 500MA
TW>EV>is all a jack can supply to the hub, I thinkTM.

TW>Not sure how many USB flash drives one can connect to unpowered Hubs
TW>but I am sure it is MORE than one would ever need.
TW>I am sure though that they problems if the power sags very much.

Tom,

Until Jean reminded me that the six thumbdrives he had plugged in to his
hub was when it didn't have any power supplying the hub, I hadn't
thought about it.

I just have six thumbdrives too, but I got a USB 3-1.2" Floppy Drive I
could put in the Seventh port on my 7 port hub.

I will have to try seeing if I can get a disk to read with 6 thumbdrives
and the FDD all plugged in to the hub with the power plug disconnected.

Another Project, That is all I really need now.

Between learning how SemPoint works and switching over to the Capital
City Online BBS and other things, I have been running around in circles
the last few weeks.

One of my favorite sayings is:

Blessed are those who run around in circles for they shall be knows as
Wheels.

I can't find a Scripture Verse for that Beatitude(sp?) Yet! ;-)

TW>Now an expert electronics technical like Jean could build a power supply
TW>using a 6 volt battery and a three leg 5 volt regulator.
TW>Although one might get buy using 4 in series NiCad cells for their 4.8
TW>volts

He's Done It!
