Thanks, Eric.  You'll see my replies to other users about the fix I did.
But since you brought that up, in all my programs the first thing it
does is store the durrent directory in memory so when the program exits
after log updates and so forth, it changes back.  In this particular
program, REPLYCHK, which I am constantly updating - I decided to include
full drive and path in all dir$ statements and file opens, avoiding
all changes of directories or drives.  Works beautifully.
