Naw, you don't have to.  It's interesting from a historical perspective. 
It outlines the life of Jesus during his childhood.  It was widely read
prior to the Nicean Creed, but not added to the Bible due to the lateness
of it's writing (somewhere around 150 CE) and its questionable authorship. 
 It has
some interesting, albeit bizarre, stories though.  One was about an
incident where the rather bratish Jesus pushed a playmate off a roof,
killing him. When his parents confronted them the brought the playmate back
to life and basically asked his parents what their problem was.
