I can understand what you're up against but that's no excuse to not
acknowledge the "added advantages" that UPS installations do afford.
Point is, you raised some heckles in a Conference that is read daily by folks
who _know_ and _understand_ that their PC's are _investments_ rather than
"toys". As with any (costly) investment, it pays mucho dividends in the long
-run to provide as much protection as possible. Thus, when another Conference
participant writes:

...he was being quite serious ! Obviously, he had read your earlier comments
thinking much the same as I: "...he "can't be that ignorant and be in 
usiness
at the same time...!"
Just the same, I'll hint to you that Xmas is on the way...and that perhaps
your family just might be kind enough to take _your_ hint(s) that you need a
small UPS for that machine of yours. Beats the price of a replacement
machine anyday !
