A lot of good surge protectors do ....NOT

The common ones have a triggering voltage of 270Vac, so in my oppinion

the extra 30Volts has already stuffed your equipment, before the

Varistor is triggered.



They are a gimick, just like security screens on the opening parts of

your house windows. If anyone wants to get in these days, they just

smash the glass beside the security screen.

If lightning strikes at your modem through the power or phone lines,

do you think that the super spark that just jumped 10 miles through

the sky is going to be stopped by a spark arrestor with a gap of a few

microns or a wafer of composite material in a varistor.

Territory at the moment.
