 RedHat backports a lot of new features into packages, and there are always
repositories out there with more "updated" software. At work we use CentOS
specifically because it is stable, and well tested. If we need newer versions
of software/packages, we'll find a repository for them, or we'll create our
own.

I don't think I'd want to manage 750+ machines running Gentoo or Arch :)
