I don't know about you, but I was hit by a virus a few years ago
that caused me a bit of physical damage through software. I believe
it was called the "Dark Avenger" virus or one of it's kindred... Near
as I can tell, it checks your hard drive for some parameters to set up
a "Harmonic Resonance Access" of the hard disk arms... Once reached, the
heads actually colide with the plates of the drive and... well.. there is
this loud undescribable noise that seems to turn your hard disk plates to
a very fine black powder...
I've also heard of others that will overwrite your CMOS, burn your CPU,
and even rewrite your EEPROM (though I doubt this last one)...
Remember... They just figure this is what it does... They don't let it
do all the damage it can... They just guess from the code...
