Hello All,
My Sister and Brother-in-law, recently purchased their 4th boat, a Hershine
42' Trawler. After three sail boats, he finally gave up on the idea of
sailing the world. They moved from Sacramento to San Diego to be closer to
good weather and the Mexican Baja Pennsula.
He told me stories of the U.S. Coast Guard stopping boats to search for
drugs. In some cases, they did a lot of damage to the boat. It appears that
such damage can be paid for by the U.S. Government, however, it seems to be
rare that anyone gets paid. If they do, it is a long haul before being paid.
Does anyone have any information on this?
Regards,
Len
