Hi, Bob.

BL> PC> Most Win C++ compilers have some sort of visual programmer with
BL> PC> them where you create your forms etc like you do in VB then
BL> PC> generate the code to create the forms, Oh well maybe one day,
BL> PC> then again there's always Delphi. :-)

BL> VB and Delphi make it so seamless that you are not aware of it. The
BL> C++ approach with OWL or MFC is quite different (and bloody stupid,
BL> IMO).

I think you need to take some time out to understand the object paradigm
- encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism, all of which should be
supported by the compiler. I believe C++ also does this (but I've never
used it).

BL> BL> Yes... it's strange. I hated C, but once you get the idea of
BL> BL> what the hell it's about, it's the right way to do things and
BL> BL> Pascal is a hotch-potch.

BL> PC> I Agree.

BL> I'm playing with Delphi, and bloody Pascal makes me so angry I want
BL> to throw the monitor out the window. Delphi has certainly got the
BL> forms part right (I actually prefer it to VB) but it *still* misses
BL> the boat. Compiling is too slow,

What? What could be quicker than pressing F9 and suddenly your
application is running? The compile/link happens in a blink. And I think
your system is faster than mine, n'est ce pas, clock-speed wise?

and it annoys me when I have to type
BL> things in upper and lower case, when the editor should recognise the
BL> keywords and do it for me.

Eh? You can type in whatever case you like!

BL> But it's early days yet... maybe I'll fall in love.

Hopefully, but maybe take some time out to understand what OOP really
means. I think you'll need to be working in Borland Pascal (see how
careful I was to say that, Paul), Delphi or C++ to get the benefits
though.

I think Paul Markham makes the same point in his message to Paul E,
directly after this one of yours to which I'm replying. Presumably you
saw it.

Regards, FIM.
