I *finally* got a Pro-2042.  You may applaud.  :-)
I spent a week playing phone tag with the local Radio Shack.  "Is it in yet?" 
 "No, try tomorrow."  "Is it in yet?"  "No, try tomorrow."
Finally, I was told that it would be in for _sure_ Monday.  I called Monday 
and it wasn't in, and in fact would have to be re-ordered.  Seems there were 
a couple in the general area, but those stores didn't want to send their 
units to this store, wanting instead to save them for local buyers. So the 
plan was to order a new one from Central, either shipped to the store or my 
home.  Then I had a brainstorm.  "Which stores in the area?"
I could carry on about the traffic, local idiots, and smell of Chattanooga, 
but I'll save that for another date.  Needless to say, one of those stores 
sold their last 2042 to a "local buyer" that day.  :-)
Which reaffirms my earlier statement that while I may heartily recommend 
several Radio Shack scanners, I don't recommend their salespeople.
After I get to play with the scanner a bit more, I'll actually talk about it 
for a change.  :-)
... and remember, it's pillage first, THEN burn!
