It's a lot of fun. More relaxing than flying, but it can still be
a challenge.

Ever run a pylon race where all of the planes have to stay in a
'slot' only 4 feet across?
I would never race power planes. I do enjoy a fun little 'grudge
race' on the slope, but power planes are too costly to maintain.
Racing offroad buggies is not cheap, but it is much cheaper than
racing planes. It gives me a chance to be competitive without
worrying about trashing $200+. If the buggy bites it, it's probably
going to cost no more than $20 in assorted suspension parts. I've
never trashed a tranny, motor, or chassis. I've dusted a few
bodies, but it goes so slowly that you know ahead of time that
you're going to eventually have to replace it... kinda like
getting old ~8-)
Even at that, the body is about $15, plus a few enjoyable evenings
with an airbrush.
