Terry:
Crown's COM-TECH (and possibly their European-only AMCRON) divisions
market their own versions 10k amplifiers, which are intended for usages
such as your described. The Crown MT10k is soley intended for massive
amounts of audio drive power - such as firing up, say, a dozen JBL 4842
double-18" subs.
Of course, the MT-10k _has_ been used as a servo driver before.
A rack of three provided power for the Intersonics low end on
Michael Jackson's "Bad" tour, driving tour, running twelve double-15"
coned servo-driven "sub-subwoofers".
I call that "Buttockular vibration analysis testing". :-)

PS: FWIW, Com-Tech manufactures a limited-bandwith _megawatt_
amplifier, used in magnetic resonance imaging scanners. Geez-o.
