From the recent flurry of messages, I do believe you're right. ;-)
DD> Seriously, it would be nice to have a bit of moose-related traffic
As the echo list description implies, MooseChat topics drifted over
the years and eventually seemed to stabilize with silly messages and
political satire in equal numbers. So, there'll be some obvious
moose-related traffic, some silliness and some political satire. I
guess the bottom line is that some non-spam messages are better than
no messages at all.
DD> in here, as admins would only delete the group if it stayed empty.
For the moment, it looks like MooseChat is getting more benefit from
the "gateway" link than alt.moose.rights, but we'll work on that.
. . . On the other hoof, I suppose MooseChat could take some
credit for sparking the recent message exchange. All in all, tho, I
think the credit goes to the innate nobleness of meese everywhere.
After all, many of the alt.moose.rights messages were "welcome"
messages or follow-up messages.

Thank you for posting it again, and for the addition mentioning
MooseChat.
DD> Does the "Elche.liste" (in German) still exist?
I'm going to guess that it most likely still exists but (even when I
was heavily involved in the "FidoNet mail hub thing") it was not a
resource that I ever needed to use.
I'm basing my guess on two things:
FidoNet is now doing better in parts of Europe, and many areas in the
former U.S.S.R., than it is doing in North America.
A recent FidoNet nodelist shows around 1000 German nodes divided
among 31 Nets. Allowing for duplication due to "administrative" node
numbers, we must be talking about 800 to 850 BBSes or Private Nodes.
Since FidoNet within Germany still seems fairly active, I am pretty
sure that their basic services also remain active.

You're a brave moose. Of course, you had no way of knowing that you
risked receiving a two-hundred-line message dealing with my beliefs as
an "Eastern" Canadian Moose.
. . . The "Way of the Moose" phrase is
a reference to Zen and the Ways practiced in Japan and other eastern
countries. I'll use willpower and refrain from going further into
personal trivia. However, I reserve the right to engage in future
silliness. ;-)
