DR> Hi, Kelly.....just out of curiosity more than anything, is it state law
or
DR> it a recommendation from another professional that says your son needs to
DR> start preschool at age 3? I've done a little research and, from what I
an
DR> tell, mandatory education laws vary from state to state but age 5 to 7
are
DR> usual ages. I don't recall seeing any states with a lower mandatory ed
law.
DR> AZ, CA, IL, and AK (the states I am most familiar with), age 6 is the
DR> mandatory age. Age 3 seems a little young, tho a 1/2 day a couple of
times
DR> week of a good preschool (NOT daycare) could be beneficial.
Thanks for letting me know this...The advice came from my mother in law who
s
a school teacher..so I assumed she was right..especially when I found out she
started my husband and sister in law at that time. I haven't chaecked to see
when it starts but all the preschools do take 3 and over..they state that the
child needs it to be able to excell in kindergarten...I thought kindergarten
was the first step at schooling that is where I learned my abc's and
uch..why
do they now have to know all of this before then?
Kelly
