  GPFs can occur under DOS in protected mode as well. Most of the
better programs (including compilers) use protected mode, so it may
still happen if his compiler runs in protected mode.
  Still, more GPFs seem to happen under Windows than DOS, so it might
be a good idea to quit Windows before starting the IDE.
