-=> Quoting Dan Ceppa to Bruce Clark <=- DC> SWITCHER allows me to swap between apps and rejoin where I left off, DC> as long as there was not a disk assessing process going on at the DC> time. What I'm unsure of is whether SWITCHER is a DOS program, like the old DOSSHELL.COM, or a Windows program, like Win3.1x TASKMAN.EXE. If it is a DOS program, then I think it is switching the lower 640k portion of BWAVE386, while leaving the remaining hanging hanging in in extended RAM. The two pieces don't line up correctly when you go to switch back, and the BWAVE386 program crashes. The Windows Task Manager leaves the entire program running in virtual mode when you swap to another program. If you have 496MB RAM, there's plenty of room for that. I hope you meant 496MB RAM and not 496 MB free hard drive space, like some people do when I ask how much memory they have. Memory is RAM. Storage is hard drive. When I first switched to Win3.10 from DOSSHELL, it was for the ability to swap between multiple DOS programs, and run some Windows programs that weren't available in DOS. It took me a while, but I also figured out how to copy and paste text between different DOS windows, or a Windows editor and a DOS editor, or the computer and the internet screen (DOS program).
