Do you have centipedes there. They are black and orange. Compared to these 
critters a scorpion bite is like a mosquito sting. I can say this from 
personal experience.
I have a resident black widow that lives in my water meter, which I have to 
read every month. It has been there for three years. We also have the Brown 
Recluse spider
It is amazing how many different things can envade your birdkeeping program 
when you have your birds outside.
