The Family History Center is a GREAT way to research!! You can order free
catalogs & pamphlets by writing:
Sal LAke Distribution Center
1999 West 1700 South Salt Lake City,UT 84104-4233
Or call 1-800-537-5950 FAX: 801-240-3685
Have them send you a pamphlet list!!
When requesting yearbook info from a library, your letter should be
handwritten on regular notebook paper. Send a donation for copy costs and a
SASE. Say you are trying to locate this relative for URGENT inheritance
matters. Give the name and approximate dates within 5 years either way of the
person attending the school. Otherwise, request all pages for possible grades
and corresponding years. You'll want names of any possible teachers, friends,
family or alumni groups.
Get a map of the state you're searching in!!! This helps especially when
placing classified ads somewhere. You can keep track of the general areas
that paper covered.
Don't let others intimidate you!! Don't be afraid to ask questions or call
someone.
Make notes!!! Keep a search diary! This could prove valuable later and it
helps to eliminate confusion.
NEVER throw ANYTHING away!! What seems less important now could be your key
later!
