Hmmm, I'm not sure of the answer to this, so in my inimitable
style I'll steer the thread away (VBG).
I'm currently rebuilding my system after turfing W95 (withOUT
first copying it to floppy!) and reinstalling DOS 6.22 and WFWG
3.11.
Part of my rebuilding process is the reinstallation of the three
suites, and reinstalling shareware and other utilities, including
graphics files.
I like to have all my graphics in a directory IMAGES, so it's
quite likely that over the next few days I'll find the odd
application that says it can't find or can't load graphics.
That's my cue to reestablish paths in the applications options,
and see what else is missing.
In part I do a FileFind for all files with the various extensions
for graphics (WPG, WMF, BMP, PCX and so on) and collect them.
The beneficial part of the exercise is that I determine exactly
what an application needs in order to load graphics.
There are a few reasonably good graphics-images organisers out
there if you are into a serious use of art. Some let you tag each
image with a keyword or two, classify them as to types (cartoon,
vegetation, etc.).
