subject: Netcomm M11F junk or not?

-= Pete Replied to Brett Vaughan about: Netcomm Roadster worth buying? =-

G'day Brett

BV> either.... UNLIKE my old Netcomm 28.8 M11F which was a piece of
 BV> junk.

AA> What exactly was wrong with your Netcomm M11F? I ran one for 2
AA> years 24 hours a day on a very busy BBS... never had one bit of
 AA> trouble.

BV> It seems to me that I blew it up so to speak from leaving it
BV> plugged in all the time through thunderstorms and the like, with
 BV> no surge protection.

Well you can't blame Netcomm for that, lightning and modems just don't
mix.

BV> It used to scream and make a hell noise every third or fourth
BV> time it was turned on. It just goes to show how some people can
BV> have problems with certain equipment when others do not.

Just for the record one of the modems here is a M11F and it's ran
without problem for about the last 2.5 years, i do unplug it during
storms though :-)

     Pete.
