| subject: | Cats (a love hate thing) |
Peter, at 11:48 on Aug 18 1995, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BG> I was beginning to think that we were a dying breed (much like BG> I'd prefer cats to be), but public anti-cat sentiment is gaining BG> momentum lately. And that bit above about Lyn's arsenic sausage BG> is quite true. Want her recipe? :) PC> Good to hear the movement is gaining popularity. I suspect that Dr Peter Walmsley's world-famous cat-skin hats have had a lot to do with that, although I was rather surprised to see the ABC's "Flying Vet" actually grab a .22 and blow one away on screen. Warmed my heart, it did. :) PC> Thanks for the offer of the recipe but out here in the country we prefer PC> the direct method "you can't beat the feeling of bringing the cross hairs PC> to bare on a moggie and squeesing off a shot" :-) Oh absolutely, but for obvious reasons, this method is not recommended in suburbia, although I still use Winchester .22 Zs for teaching cats that they are not welcome around my aviary. They're almost inaudible, but seem to lack the penetrating power of the (noisier) high velocity rounds. PC> BTW. Foxes are more of a problem around these parts than cats, bloody PC> animal libbers. Very true. We're on the fringe of suburbia here, but just 5km down the road, my BIL has dreadful problems on his 20 acre property with foxes actually digging their way into his chook yard, and killing the lot by biting off their heads, even though only one or two chooks end up actually being eaten. So far this year, he's killed close to 20 of the bastards, yet strangely enough, no cats at all. Maybe they're all here in my suburb instead...
