-= Pete Replied to David Drummond about: Stop Autoanswer =-

G'day David

DK> That would work fine if some software programs would stop
DK> changing the nram on modems without letting the user know about
DK> it. Had that happen to me once. Kept wondering why my modem
DK> would only connect at 14.4. BBS packages have the unfortunate
DK> habit of doing that sort of thing.

DD> In all of the years I have been running a BBS, _every_ BBS
DD> package I have used has required _ME_ to nominate the modem
 DD> string.

DD> What package(s) are you speaking of?

Try Windows 95, the new netcomm inf file is a killer, the init setting
in the registry has &W as the last setting :-(

talk about stupid.

     Pete.
